Now, i want to remove vista from my laptop and use windows 7 only. The problem is that during installation, win 7 was installed on logical drive and windows vista was on the primary drive. Thus, i cannot delete/format the windows vista partition. Also I cannot transfer the boot drive to the partition containing win 7 because the vista partition is the active one.

But the problem is that the only bootable partition is the Vista partition that you want to scratch. Always back it up as an image first, just in case. Hi, Recently after i installed windows 7 in my PC i am facing a problem, whenever i start my PC a dual boot screen comes up asking me to choose an operating system which looks like this and which i am finding very annoying because i have already formatted the drive where my old OS was installed. After i choose to login with windows 7 then at first login this screen pops den i choose to close that screen i have tried to find if my hard drive has my old OS in msconfig screen which looks like this but nothing. Then i check to see if my C drive(where i install OS) has any files in hidden mode of my old OS which looks like this but still nothing. Guys please anyone help me how to get rid of this problem and i already reformatted my PC 2 or 3 times with different OS like windows 8 pro but still in Windows 8 also it gives the same screen(not literally the same screen but in windows 8 style) at first boot.

At the very least delete the system partition so that windows will create/install a new boot loader with just a single OS. Since you've already got an updated boot loader with two OS's listed, I agree with DarkLord69, use EasyBCD or bcdedit to fix the boot loader and remove the old OS.

I would juz like you to know what really worked for me was backing up all my files in an external hard drive and then deleting system files, deleting all the partitions and formatting it completely and now no more of the annoying Dual Boot screen now everything work fine and i am using windows 8 pro 32bit now.
